If you have always wanted to explore the underwater world at a
leisurely pace that takes you beyond snorkeling, but you don't
have the time or desire to get SCUBA certified, SNUBA may be
just the thing for you.
SNUBA is a relatively new and unique activity allowing you to
get the thrill of SCUBA with the ease of snorkeling. It does not
require any prior training or experience. Your air is supplied
by a
SCUBA tank which is on the surface on a float. The float follows
your every movement underwater. The air is delivered by means
of a 20-foot airline which allows you to be anywhere from the
bottom, mid-water or near the surface. You dive at your own pace
not feeling pressured to keep up with anyone.
If you have an hour and a half available during your vacation,
that is enough time to learn how to SNUBA dive, go on a guided
underwater tour and clean up and be on your way to the next
activity. The only requirements to be eligible to SNUBA dive are:
1) be at least eight years old - 2) be in fairly good health and
3)
know how to breath. You don't even need to know how to swim
since you are breathing off a standard SCUBA regulator and
have your air source with you wherever you go.
SNUBA is a great activity for families and for a certified diver
to
introduce non-certified partners to the underwater breathing
experience.
Your tour is lead by a diving professional who will show you the
abundant marine life that camouflage themselves in the rocks
and coral that you wouldn't see snorkeling, many of which are
only found in the Hawaiian Islands. You will also be shown that
it
is a nice safe environment in Kauai's waters. Group sizes are
limited for maximum fun. |
